Updated weekly as songs enter the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, this robust, fully interactive database houses proprietary data for the compositional characteristics of those songs, as well as related industry data for songwriters, artists, producers and record labels.
Searches include the ability to search for compositional and industry trends, find songs with very specific compositional characteristics, and compare compositional characteristics across songs, songwriters, artists, producers, and record labels.
Every song in the database includes a dedicated page detailing its key compositional characteristics related to genres and influences, lead vocal, lyrics and song structure, as well as other useful information such chart position, links to lyrics, the official video and more.

Our flagship report, The Hit Song Deconstructed Report provides unparalleled insight into the inner-workings of a current chart-topping hit. These videos take you on a section-by-section walkthrough – from intro to outro – of the songwriting and production techniques used to craft a chart-topping hit.
Videos are led by Hit Songs Deconstructed co-founder, David Penn, they are approximately one hour long, and each section is visualized with its arrangement in Logic Pro X.

The Quarterly Trend Report
Published as a downloadable PDF on a quarterly basis, this report delivers a concise, data-driven snapshot of Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 compositional and industry trends.
Among the many topics covered are compositional trends such as genres, influences, instruments, tempo, key and song structure characteristics. On the industry side, we cover an array of artist, writer and label trends such as chart performance (staying power, placement, and prominence), single artist vs. featured artists, songwriter/artist collaborations and more.

The Interactive Compositional Trends Report
This fully interactive report details the compositional trends of the songs that chart in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 during a specific quarter across 28+ categories, including song length, genres and influences, instruments, the first chorus occurrence, tempo, key and more. The report begins with a list of all the songs that landed in the Top 10 during the selected quarter, and then details the most popular compositional characteristics, multi-quarter upward and downward trends, characteristics at their highest and lowest levels in over a year, and then displays over 25 graphs detailing compositional trends.
The trend report can be filtered by primary genre and results can be visualized line graphs, which show the evolution of each trend across a specified four-quarter time-period, or as bar graphs, which provide a trend snapshot for a specific quarter.

The Interactive Industry Trends Report
This fully interactive report provides a snapshot of the industry trends as they relate to the songs that land in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. It keeps you in tune with the artists, songwriters, producers, and labels topping the Billboard Hot 100 and the compositional trends for their songs.
It includes over 60 interactive charts and graphs and offer the ability to drill down on data points related to artists, songwriters, producers and labels to view the corresponding songs and their compositional characteristics.
It also give you the ability to hone in on emerging trends for key song characteristics such as genres, influences, lead vocals, featured artists, and more by comparing songs that just entered the Top 10 vs. those that carried over from the previous quarter.
There are dedicated sections for artists, songwriters, producers, labels, and the report concludes with a section dedicated to collaborations, detailing the songwriters, artists, producers, and labels that collaborated on each song.
