Take Note Of This:
A great performance of the Byrd’s unique take on the song.

Why it’s a “Penn’s Pick”:
Out of all the versions that exist of This Wheel’s On Fire, it was always the Byrds version that resonated with me the most.  It’s the perfect fusion of moody Country Rock with a tinge of Psychedelia thrown in for good measure, and this particular performance of the song has always been my personal favorite.  It’s a little more up-tempo and rocking than other performances and encompasses a unique Country/Psych vibe thanks to one of the best guitarists of all time – Clarence White.  Additionally, this performance is culled from Playboy After Dark in 1968.  Check out the video – it’s a real gas!
